Shipping to Ghana from Virginia: the short answer
Guldstreet Shipping now collects barrels, boxes, totes, suitcases, bags of rice, furniture, appliances, cars and heavy equipment across Northern Virginia. We pick up in Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Falls Church, Annandale, Springfield, Woodbridge, Dale City and Manassas on scheduled Saturday pickups along our Maryland, DC, Virginia and Delaware route. The minimum is 2 barrels or boxes per pickup, and the prices are the same as everywhere else we collect. For most families the first question is simple: how do I get a barrel from Woodbridge to Accra without losing a day to driving and paperwork? The answer is a booked pickup at your door, an invoice paid in full before loading, and a barrel that arrives cleared and delivered in Accra or Tema. Pickup Saturdays in Virginia and how they work
Virginia pickups run on our Maryland, DC, Virginia and Delaware route. The Pickup Saturdays for the rest of 2026 are Saturday, October 24, Saturday, November 7 and Saturday, November 21. These are the dates to plan around. Each pickup has a minimum of 2 barrels or boxes, and the per item prices do not change because you are outside New York or New Jersey.
One address can serve a whole group. Neighbors, family members, churches and community associations can combine shipments at a single Virginia address for a group pickup, which makes the two item minimum easy to meet and keeps everyone on one invoice. Tell us at booking how many barrels and boxes will be at the address so the truck is loaded correctly.
If you are shipping for Christmas, the Virginia cutoff is Saturday, November 21, 2026. Book your pickup by that date and the estimated arrival in Ghana is December 20 to 24. Barrels, boxes, totes, suitcases and bags of rice
This is the core of what we do for Virginia households. A 55-gallon barrel to Ghana is $190. That price includes door pickup, ocean freight to Tema, customs clearance at Tema, Ghana import duties on personal effects, and door delivery in Accra and Tema. Delivery to other Ghana cities such as Kumasi or Takoradi is quoted separately before booking. The 65-gallon barrel is $220 and the 75 to 77-gallon jumbo barrel is $240.
Boxes are priced by exact retail size, so there is no guessing. Examples include a small U-Haul box at $55, a large 18 x 18 x 16 inch box at $100, a jumbo 24 x 18 x 24 inch box at $170, and a large wardrobe box at $300. A suitcase is $60, a tote bag is $100, and a bag of rice is $35 for 25 kg or $65 for 50 kg, and we pick it up and ship it. Togo and Cote d'Ivoire cost a little more per item. If you want a barrel filled with groceries and essentials rather than packing it yourself, our Fill-a-Barrel service starts at $580 for the Essentials Barrel. The $190 barrel price ships a barrel you packed; it does not include the goods.
Appliances, furniture, mattresses and televisions
Virginia customers often ship larger household goods alongside barrels. We move sofas, folding tables, mattresses and televisions, and the instant estimate publishes the mattress and TV prices so you can see them before you call. Sofas are $600 for a 3-seater and $750 for a 4-seater, and folding tables are $70 for a 4 ft round and $65 for a 6 ft rectangular.
Fridges, freezers and air conditioners must be new. Ghana bans used fridges, freezers and air conditioners, so do not buy a used unit for shipment. For any appliance not listed here, ask us for a written price before you buy. We would rather quote first than have you pay for an item that cannot enter Ghana.
Cars, SUVs and pickups from Virginia
We ship cars, SUVs, pickup trucks and commercial trucks from Virginia to Ghana by RoRo or in a container. That includes cars bought at auctions in the state. USA and Canada vehicle shipments are quoted per job in writing. A car quote excludes inland transport and every service before the car reaches our warehouse, any GS 4510 inspection once it is reinstated, and Ghana duties and port charges.

Right-hand-drive vehicles are admitted only under a regulated conversion framework that is still being set up. Reports on the used-vehicle age limit conflict, with some saying 10 years and others 15, so confirm the age limit before buying. The GS 4510 pre-shipment inspection and Certificate of Conformity were due from October 1, 2026, but the Ghana Standards Authority suspended the inspection on October 5, 2026 with no new date announced, so do not assume it is currently required. Heavy equipment, generators and containers
Contractors, farmers and traders in Virginia ship generators, machinery and containers with us. Heavy equipment moves by RoRo, flat rack, open top or breakbulk as the cargo requires. We handle full container (FCL) and shared container (LCL) shipments. USA and Canada equipment and container shipments are quoted per job in writing, so send photos, dimensions and weights and we will price the job.

Door delivery and last-mile delivery in Ghana
Getting the cargo to Tema is only half the job. Our last-mile team collects from Tema, Takoradi, Kotoka cargo terminal or consolidator warehouses and delivers to the door anywhere in Ghana, including cargo shipped by other companies. Before your Pickup Saturday checklist
- Book by WhatsApp or phone and confirm your Virginia address and the number of barrels and boxes. Remember the 2 item minimum.
- Get the written price and pickup date, then pay the invoice in full before loading.
- Pack to the free packing guide and label every barrel and box with the name and phone number of the person receiving it in Ghana.
- Keep receipts for anything valuable and remove batteries from devices where required.
- For a car, have the title ready at least 72 hours before export and confirm the Ghana age limit and eligibility before you buy.

- For Christmas, book by Saturday, November 21, 2026.
How booking works
Message or call us on WhatsApp, tell us what you are shipping and where in Virginia you are. We send a written price and a pickup date. You receive an invoice, and you pay it in full before loading: online by card or PayPal, or by Cash App or cash to the driver at pickup for barrel and box shipments. There is no deposit. Card and PayPal prices are 3% higher than the non-card price shown on every invoice. We do not accept Zelle, bank transfer or wire. For vehicles, heavy equipment, containers and commercial cargo, card payments are welcome and cash is not accepted.
If you are in Maryland, Washington DC, Northern Virginia, Delaware, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts or Pennsylvania outside Philadelphia, the same Saturday route and prices apply, with the minimum of 2 barrels or boxes. Customers in New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia can book any day with no minimum.
