Our flat $190 rate for a standard 55-gallon barrel covers everything on the U.S. side, no surprise add-ons at pickup:

• Door-to-door pickup from your address anywhere in NYC (Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Staten Island, Yonkers, Long Island), New Jersey (Newark, Jersey City, Paterson, Irvington, Elizabeth), or greater Philadelphia
• Weighing and intake inspection at our New York facility
• Documentation, Bill of Lading, shipper declaration, packing list review
• Ocean freight from Port Newark/Elizabeth to Tema Port, Ghana
• Port handling at the New York end

Your $190 barrel rate includes customs clearance at Tema, Ghana import duties on personal effects, and door delivery in Accra and Tema. Delivery to other Ghana cities is available for an extra fee, which we'll quote before you book.

How Our Barrel Shipping Service Works

1. Book: Call +1 (551) 800-2125 or request a quote online. We confirm your pickup date and give you a flat price.
2. Pack: Fill your 55-gallon barrel using our packing guidelines. Complete the packing list template we provide.
3. We pick up: A Guldstreet driver collects your barrel at your address on the confirmed date.
4. We ship: Your barrel is loaded into our next consolidated container departing Port Newark. Vessels leave weekly.
5. We notify: You receive vessel departure confirmation and a Bill of Lading reference. We also notify your Ghana recipient.
6. We handle it all: Your barrel is cleared through customs at Tema and delivered to your door in Accra or Tema, duties included.

Transit Time and Delivery Schedule

Sailing schedules are set by the shipping lines and change through the year, so we do not quote fixed transit times. When your cargo sails, we confirm the vessel and its estimated arrival at Tema, then update you at arrival and after customs clearance. Your shipment moves through these stages:

• Pickup: we collect from your door, weigh and photograph each item, and give you a reference number
• Loading: your cargo is loaded at Port Newark-Elizabeth on the next available sailing
• Ocean freight: the vessel sails to Tema Port, Ghana
• Customs clearance: cargo is declared on ICUMS and cleared at Tema; accurate packing lists clear fastest
• Delivery: door delivery in Accra and Tema, with other cities quoted before booking

For Christmas 2026, book your pickup by November 28 for New York City and New Jersey pickups, or November 25 for Philadelphia. Vessels fill up in November, so book early.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size barrel do you ship?

Standard 55-gallon plastic barrels (23" diameter × 35" tall), holding up to 300 lbs (136 kg); heavier barrels are billed as a weight adjustment. This is the industry standard size and the size our $190 flat rate covers. Mini 30-gallon barrels are also available, call for pricing.

Can I ship multiple barrels at once?

Yes, and for 5 or more barrels shipped together we offer volume pricing. Many customers in Brooklyn and the Bronx ship 4-8 barrels at a time. Call us to discuss multi-barrel rates.

Do I need to bring the barrel to you?

No. We pick up from your door. You pack it, we collect it. If you also need us to source the barrel, ask when you call, we can arrange that too.

What happens if Ghana Customs opens my barrel?

Customs inspections are routine. As long as your packing list is accurate and no prohibited items are included, an inspection causes only a short delay. We brief every customer on how to prepare an accurate packing list.
