Our flat $190 rate for a standard 55-gallon barrel covers everything on the U.S. side — no surprise add-ons at pickup:

• Door-to-door pickup from your address anywhere in NYC (Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Staten Island, Yonkers, Long Island), New Jersey (Newark, Jersey City, Paterson, Irvington, Elizabeth), or greater Philadelphia
• Weighing and intake inspection at our New York facility
• Documentation — Bill of Lading, shipper declaration, packing list review
• Ocean freight from Port Newark/Elizabeth to Tema Port, Ghana
• Port handling at the New York end

Ghana Customs duties (paid by your recipient at Tema Port) and inland delivery in Ghana (available at an additional fee) are not included in the $200 base rate — we quote these separately and honestly before you book.

How Our Barrel Shipping Service Works

1. Book: Call +1 (551) 800 2125 or request a quote online. We confirm your pickup date and give you a flat price.
2. Pack: Fill your 55-gallon barrel using our packing guidelines. Complete the packing list template we provide.
3. We pick up: A Guldstreet driver collects your barrel at your address on the confirmed date.
4. We ship: Your barrel is loaded into our next consolidated container departing Port Newark. Vessels leave weekly.
5. We notify: You receive vessel departure confirmation and a Bill of Lading reference. We also notify your Ghana recipient.
6. Recipient collects: With our clearing agent referral, your family collects the barrel from Tema Port after paying customs duties — or we coordinate door delivery.

For Christmas delivery in Ghana, ship by late October. Vessels fill up fast in November — book early.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size barrel do you ship?

Standard 55-gallon plastic barrels (23" diameter × 35" tall), holding up to 150 lbs. This is the industry standard size and the size our $200 flat rate covers. Mini 30-gallon barrels are also available — call for pricing.

Can I ship multiple barrels at once?

Yes — and for 5 or more barrels shipped together we offer volume pricing. Many customers in Brooklyn and the Bronx ship 4–8 barrels at a time. Call us to discuss multi-barrel rates.

Do I need to bring the barrel to you?

No. We pick up from your door. You pack it, we collect it. If you also need us to source the barrel, ask when you call — we can arrange that too.

What happens if Ghana Customs opens my barrel?

Customs inspections are routine. As long as your packing list is accurate and no prohibited items are included, an inspection adds 1–2 days to clearance — nothing more. We brief every customer on how to prepare an accurate packing list.
