Written quotes | Door pickup | Delivery anywhere in Ghana

We plan and run household moves to Ghana for returning families: a walkthrough of your home, packing help, a valued inventory, door pickup from Boston to Washington, DC, your car, customs clearance at Tema with the duty-free removal articles paperwork, and delivery to your new address anywhere in Ghana.

Relocating to Ghana, Handled From Your Door in the U.S. to Your Door in Ghana

Moving a household to Ghana is not the same as sending a barrel. You are moving beds, a kitchen, school things, paperwork and often a car, and the rules for a relocation are different from the rules for a gift shipment. Families who get the paperwork right bring their used household goods in free of duty. Families who do not can lose that concession, pay storage at Tema and wait weeks for their belongings.

Guldstreet Shipping manages the whole move as one project: one coordinator, one written plan and one written quote, from the first walkthrough of your home to delivery at your new address in Ghana.

What We Handle for Relocating Families

  • A walkthrough of your home: in person, or over a WhatsApp video call, so we can see what you are moving and recommend barrels and boxes, a shared shipment or a full container
  • Packing help: our team can pack at your home, with wardrobe boxes so clothes travel on hangers
  • A valued inventory: every package numbered, measured, photographed and listed item by item, new or used, so your packing lists, bill of lading and customs inventory all match
  • Door pickup from Boston to Washington, DC: NYC, New Jersey and Philadelphia any day, and the rest of the East Coast on scheduled pickup days
  • Your car: eligibility check against Ghana's current vehicle rules, export documents, and shipping in the same container as your household goods where that makes sense
  • Customs clearance at Tema: through a licensed customs house agent, with the removal articles paperwork prepared for the duty-free concession you are entitled to
  • Delivery to your new home: anywhere in Ghana, with photos and a signature at delivery

Three Ways to Move

The Paperwork That Protects Your Duty-Free Concession

Ghana allows people relocating to the country to bring in genuinely used household goods and personal effects free of duty. Customs calls these removal articles. The concession depends on getting a few things right, and we walk every family through them:

  1. Ghana Shippers' Authority registration: every importer must be registered before a shipment can be processed. Individuals register with a Ghana Card.
  2. The PUBD form: the Passengers Unaccompanied Baggage Declaration, filed at the customs desk when you land in Ghana or within 48 hours. Missing it can mean penalties, delays and losing the concession.
  3. Proof that you are relocating: a passport with your entry stamp, and evidence that you lived abroad, such as a lease, utility bills or an employer letter.
  4. A detailed, valued inventory: in English, signed and dated, matching your packing lists and bill of lading.
  5. Invoices for newer items: electrical items and anything bought within six months of the shipment arriving.

Before you fly, we give you your bill of lading number and a checklist for the airport, so the PUBD form is filed correctly the day you land.

What to Leave Behind

  • Used refrigerators, deep freezers and air conditioners, which Ghana does not allow in
  • Vehicles that do not meet Ghana's current age and condition rules, including salvage, flood-damaged and fire-damaged vehicles
  • New goods in quantity, which can be treated as goods for resale and taxed
  • Firearms, ammunition, flammable liquids, aerosols, gas cylinders and cash

Ghana uses 230 volts. We help you check each appliance before it is packed, so you do not pay to ship something you cannot use.

How the Move Works

  1. Walkthrough: we see what you are moving, in person or on a video call
  2. Written plan and quote: one price for the whole move, with what is and is not included spelled out, including clearance and delivery
  3. Sign and pay: you sign the agreement and pay in full by PayPal, Cash App or cash before loading, so there are no surprises later
  4. Packing and pickup: every package numbered, photographed and listed
  5. Sailing and tracking: updates from the U.S. port to Tema
  6. Clearance and delivery: customs at Tema, then delivery to your new home

Pricing

Every relocation is quoted in writing after the walkthrough, because no two households are the same. The quote depends on the volume of your goods, whether you need packing help, whether a car is included, and the delivery address in Ghana. Barrels and boxes are sized and measured at pickup, and container moves are priced per container. Ghana duties and taxes on items that are not exempt are not included, and we tell you upfront which items are likely to attract them.

Common Questions

How early should we start planning?

Two to three months before you fly is comfortable. A container move by sea takes several weeks, and your goods should arrive while your relocation paperwork is still current.

Can we ship our car with our household goods?

Often, yes. A car and household goods can share a 40ft container. We check the car against Ghana's current vehicle rules before you commit, because the rules changed in 2026 and are still moving.

We have already flown. Can you still help?

Yes. A family member or friend in the U.S. can meet our team for pickup, and we coordinate the paperwork with you in Ghana by WhatsApp.

Do you serve families outside New York?

Yes. We pick up from Boston to Washington, DC, including New Jersey, Philadelphia, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
