New Jersey Is Home Pickup Territory
If you live in New Jersey and you are shipping to Ghana, you do not need to drive a barrel to a depot or pay a truck to move it. New Jersey sits inside our home pickup area, and we run it out of New York. That means a Guldstreet driver can come to your address, load your barrels, boxes, totes, suitcases or bags of rice, and move them into the shipping line. You book the pickup, you pay the deposit, and the rest happens without you chasing anyone.
We pick up in Newark, Irvington, East Orange, Orange, Elizabeth, Jersey City, Paterson, Passaic, Trenton, Plainfield and the rest of the state. If your town is not on that list, message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you what we can do. Pickups run any day of the week in New Jersey, with no minimum number of items. That is different from our scheduled Saturday routes in Maryland, Washington DC, Northern Virginia, Delaware, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania outside Philadelphia, where we ask for at least two barrels or boxes per stop.

This is the work most New Jersey customers start with. A 55-gallon barrel to Ghana is $190, and that price is not just the ocean leg. It includes door pickup from Boston to Washington DC, ocean freight to Tema, customs clearance at Tema, Ghana import duties on personal effects, and door delivery in Accra and Tema. Appliances, Furniture, Mattresses and Televisions
New Jersey customers often ship more than barrels. Sofas, folding tables, mattresses, televisions and appliances all move on the same ocean service. For fridges, freezers and air conditioners, the rule is simple: new only. Used fridges, used freezers and used air conditioners are banned from import into Ghana. Do not buy a used unit at a garage sale in Newark or Paterson and expect it to clear. If you are buying new, keep the receipt and the packaging details, because they help at the Ghana end.

Flood, fire, rebuilt and salvage vehicles are barred from Ghana. Right-hand-drive vehicles are admitted only under a regulated conversion framework that is still being set up. Reports on the used-vehicle age limit conflict, with some saying 10 years and others 15, so confirm the age limit before you buy anything.
On inspection: the GS 4510 used-vehicle pre-shipment inspection and Certificate of Conformity were due from October 1, 2026, but the Ghana Standards Authority suspended the inspection on October 5, 2026, with no new date announced. We will not tell you it is currently required, because it is not. If it is reinstated, the GS 4510 inspection is not included in our car quotes. Neither are inland transport and every service before the car reaches our warehouse, nor Ghana duties and port charges. Heavy Equipment, Generators and Containers

How Booking Works in New Jersey

Ghana Shippers' Authority registration is required before ICUMS processing under Act 1122, enforced from August 2026. The PUBD is filed on arrival or within 48 hours. Ghana's 2026 VAT reform set a single effective VAT rate of 20 percent including NHIL and GETFund. Used fridges, freezers and air conditioners are banned, and so are flood, fire, rebuilt and salvage vehicles.
