What shipping to Ghana from Delaware looks like now
Guldstreet Shipping now picks up across Delaware. If you live in Wilmington, Newark, New Castle, Bear, Middletown or Dover, you can book a pickup at your door instead of driving your barrels and boxes to another state. We collect barrels, boxes, totes, suitcases and bags of rice, take them by ocean to Tema, clear them through customs and deliver them to the door in Accra and Tema. Delivery to other Ghana cities is quoted separately before booking.
Delaware pickups run on scheduled Sundays on our Maryland, DC, Virginia and Delaware route. The dates to plan around are Sunday, November 8, 2026. We call these Pickup Sundays. There is a minimum of two barrels or boxes per pickup, and the prices are the same as everywhere else we collect. Pickup Sundays in Delaware and how neighbors combine shipments
A Pickup Sunday is the day our truck is already in your area, so your barrels and boxes go out on a planned route. That is why the minimum is two pieces: it keeps the route practical for everyone on it. You do not need to fill both pieces yourself. Neighbors, family members, churches and community associations can combine shipments at one address for a group pickup. One person books, one invoice covers the group, and each family labels its own barrels and boxes clearly.
Group pickups work well for churches sending supplies together or for several households that would each send one barrel. Decide who will be at the address on the Sunday, keep the pieces together in one accessible spot, and have the labels ready before the truck arrives. If you are unsure whether your group meets the minimum, ask us before booking.
Barrels, boxes, totes, suitcases and bags of rice
This is the core of what we do for Delaware households. A 55-gallon barrel to Ghana is $190. A 65-gallon barrel is $220, and a 75 to 77-gallon jumbo barrel is $240. Boxes range from $45 for a small Home Depot box to $300 for a large wardrobe box, with many sizes in between. A suitcase is $60 and a tote bag is $100. Bags of rice, which we pick up and ship, are $35 for 25 kg and $65 for 50 kg. Sofas and folding tables are also on the list. Togo and Cote d'Ivoire cost a little more per item.
What the $190 barrel price includes matters. It covers door pickup from Boston to Washington DC, ocean freight to Tema, customs clearance at Tema, Ghana import duties on personal effects, and door delivery in Accra and Tema. One point that comes up often: the $190 ships a barrel you packed yourself. If you want us to buy groceries and essentials and fill the barrel for you, those filled barrels start at $580. That is a different service, and we explain it further down.
Appliances, furniture, mattresses and televisions
Delaware customers also ship household goods that will not fit in a barrel. We handle appliances, furniture, mattresses and televisions. For fridges, freezers and air conditioners, only new units can be shipped, because Ghana bans used fridges, freezers and air conditioners. Sofas are listed at $600 for a three-seater and $750 for a four-seater, and folding tables at $70 for a 4 ft round and $65 for a 6 ft rectangular.
Large items need a little planning. Measure the item, photograph it, and send the photo with your WhatsApp message so the written quote matches what you actually have. If an item needs packing help, we offer packing services and supplies, and we can talk through the options when you book.
Cars, SUVs and pickups from Delaware
We ship cars, SUVs, pickup trucks and commercial trucks from Delaware to Ghana by RoRo or in a container. That includes cars bought at auctions in the state. USA and Canada vehicle shipments are quoted per job in writing, so the quote reflects the vehicle, the port and the method. Car quotes exclude inland transport and every service before the car reaches our warehouse, any GS 4510 inspection once it is reinstated, and Ghana duties and port charges.
Before you buy, check eligibility. Ghana bars flood, fire, rebuilt and salvage vehicles. Right-hand-drive vehicles are admitted only under a regulated conversion framework that is still being set up. Reports on the used-vehicle age limit conflict, with some saying 10 years and others 15, so confirm the age limit before you buy. The GS 4510 pre-shipment inspection and Certificate of Conformity were due from October 1, 2026, but the Ghana Standards Authority suspended the inspection on October 5, 2026, with no new date announced. One timing rule to keep in mind: U.S. CBP needs vehicle title documents at least 72 hours before export. Have your title ready early so the paperwork does not hold up the booking.
Heavy equipment, generators and containers
For generators, machinery and heavy equipment, we arrange RoRo, flat rack, open top or breakbulk as the cargo requires. We also handle full container (FCL) and shared container (LCL) shipments. Equipment and container shipments from the USA and Canada are quoted per job in writing, and the same exclusions apply as for vehicles: inland transport and every service before the cargo reaches our warehouse, any GS 4510 inspection once it is reinstated, and Ghana duties and port charges. Fill a barrel for family, and door delivery in Ghana
If you want to send groceries and essentials but cannot shop and pack yourself, our Fill a Barrel for Family service does it for you. We buy the goods, pack, photograph and ship a 55-gallon barrel to Accra or Tema. The Essentials Barrel is $580 with about $250 of goods, the Family Barrel is $730 with about $400, and the Premium Barrel is $930 with about $600. The price is the goods at cost with receipts, plus a Shop and Fill fee of $75 or 12 percent if higher, plus the empty barrel at $65, plus barrel shipping at $190. You pay in full before we shop, and any difference from the goods budget is settled on the final statement. Togo and Cote d'Ivoire add $20.
On the Ghana side, our last-mile delivery collects from Tema, Takoradi, Kotoka cargo terminal or consolidator warehouses and delivers to the door anywhere in Ghana. Before your Pickup Sunday: a checklist
- Decide what you are sending and measure boxes so the quote matches the load.
- Confirm your town is on the Delaware list, or message us on WhatsApp if it is not.

How booking works
Message or call us with what you are sending and where you are in Delaware. We send a written price and confirm your pickup date. You receive an invoice, then pay in full before loading: online by card or PayPal, or by Cash App or cash to the driver at pickup. There is no deposit. Every invoice shows a card and PayPal price and a 3 percent lower non-card price. Cash to the driver is available for barrel and box shipments only, not for vehicles, heavy equipment, containers or commercial cargo. We do not accept Zelle, bank transfer or wire.
For anything regulatory we have not covered here, confirm with the agency or a licensed customs house agent. Ghana Shippers' Authority registration is required before ICUMS processing under Act 1122, enforced from August 2026, and the PUBD is filed on arrival or within 48 hours. Ghana's 2026 VAT reform set a single effective VAT rate of 20 percent including NHIL and GETFund.
